Animal Rescue of Carroll, Iowa *A Division of Animal Protection & Education, Paton Iowa*

Welcome to our site!

The 2008 Paws on the Pavement dog walk at Swan Lake State Park was held on Saturday, June 14. We had nearly 30 dogs and owners at the event for a wonderful day of fun and exercise. Plan to join the fun next year!

Free To Good Home??

Why "Free to Good Home" is NOT a good deal for your pet:

Over the years, many Class B dealers have been caught receiving stolen animals or fraudulently obtaining animals, including pets, and falsifying records to make the transactions stick. Working alongside the Class B dealer in such transactions is the "buncher," typically a shadowy, unlicensed individual who gathers animals from various sources, like "free to a good home" advertisements, or by engaging in outright theft. The falsification of names, addresses, and sources isn't hard to accomplish if you're serious enough about obscuring the means of acquisition and disposition of animals.

Who we are:

ARC is a group of concerned citizens working to improve the welfare of domestic animals in the Carroll area.

Want to help?

We would love as much or as little help as you wish to provide, from joining the group and helping with a strategy, to stuffing envelopes or donating items for a bake sale.  Please contact us at animalrescueofcarroll@yahoo.com.

IMPORTANT: We do not have a shelter yet so we are unable to take any animals in.  When wanting to meet animals, please call or email to line up a time w/ a volunteer.

 Strategies we are pursuing:

1.      Provide Placement Assistance for pets that need homes in the area

2.      Promote Spaying and Neutering

3.      Promote ID chip placement in area pets to ensure lost animals are returned to their owners

4.      Partner with animal welfare groups in the region to promote animal welfare initiatives

5.      Pursue legal incorporation and tax-free charity status

6.      Fundraising to support above strategies
