Ike is really growing and I am happy to say he is doing great with the
daycare kids. They are becoming really good friends. He really is good with the baby. When Ike is in the kitchen with
me and the gates are up Abby will pull herself up and Ike lets her touch him and he just licks her. He is really getting
to be licking fool, very affectionate. Rarely ever has to be reminded to settle down he know the difference between toys and
skin now. I need to take more pictures of him because I really think he has grown quite a bit. We bought him
a larger kennel so he would have more room and of course he goes through toys like crazy. I am going to Des Moines today and
might try to find some different ones for him at the pet store. He really is a good and sweet little puppy. Just wanted to give you an update. He is doing really well. We are really glad he's
a member of our family. We are looking forward to going to the park and have some playdates with some of our friends' dogs.

I thought you might get a little peace of mind from seeing how Oreo is doing nearly six months later. Oreo
has a wonderful personality and shows his preferences often. This is one of his frequent sleeping positions in his favorite
chair. He pulled his catnip bag up there with him before he went to sleep. :-) He's pretty spoiled and a
little ornery on occasion. He loves to lay on the bed and watch the back yard from the window. Rabbits and squirrels
intrigue him. Weather permitting, I open the window and he loves sniffing fresh air through the screen. He enjoys
chasing flashlight spots, pouncing on a beaded necklace (not sure why, but he does), and playing with his catnip bag and his
stuffed mouse. He enjoys being brushed daily, too. The smart little guy figured out the word 'snack' within his
first two days here, so we spell it out around him. He still lays in my lap and sleeps with me at night, too. He
likes to purr himself to sleep (while working his paws) if classical music is playing....snores pretty heartily, too!
:-) He's an early riser that finds his spot to sun himself as soon as the sun is high enough in the sky. I moved
an over-sized ottoman into that spot so he can sun himself in comfort. He's well-behaved and has never jumped onto the
counter, stove, or table. We haven't had to have one single battle of wills, so to speak. He's very well, healthy,
and loved. I thought it might give Kathleen some comfort to hear that. Thanks, again, for helping bring this wonderful
little guy into my life! ~Shelly

Just wanted to let you know Layla is doing GREAT ... her and her new playmate Kayla we're
not so friendly on Sunday when we got home ... but tonight they seem to be best buddies ...
I think Layla wanted to be friends ... but our other newbie was really jealous - ya know I was first here and now she is getting
all the attention ... what's up with that. All is good now. I guess I didn't realize how GREEN Layla's eyes really
were until we got home ... beautiful Just FYI ... when you get to the playmate pics - Layla has the black
on her front legs.
Thanks again for everything.

I just wanted to update you to let you know we had a great week with Sonny! He was pretty subdued
last Saturday after we left Carroll, but he perked up the very next day. He has adjusted well to our routine and is great
in his kennel at night- our thanks to you or whoever kennel-trained him! We borrowed some dog behavior/training books
and DVDs from the library and plan to begin working with him this week. Thank you again for taking such good care of
him these past several weeks. Nathan and I are both very grateful to you!
Happy Holidays! I hope things are going well for
you and Animal Rescue
of Carroll. Matt and I enjoyed our first Christmas with "Roxie". Her forever name is Gracey. She has added such joy and fun
to our lives the past 5 months. I feel so lucky to have found my beautiful, perfect puppy. She had quite a bit of
fun this holiday season. Lots of presents from her new family, friends, neighbors, and Santa! I think she has a stock pile
of Begg’n Strips to last her a looong time! They are still her favorite!
Not to mention too many toys to choose from. She made her first trip to visit Matt's extended family in Elmo , MO. She made
friends with the farm dog, farm cats, and was intrigued by the cows. :) There were lots
of people for her to meet and greet too. She is still timid around new people so it was a good, positive experience for her.
We are trying to help her build self confidence in new situations. She accompanies us to my sisters, parents, and friends
houses to keep her moving forward. It's a continuing challenge, but it's certainly worth the effort to help her live a happy,
full life.
Several of our friends comment that she looks like the puppy from “Marley & Me”. They think she is just adorable. She continues to
woo me every day with her sweet, loving personality. All she wants is to make us happy and be loved! Thank you again for taking
such good care of our pup during her stay with Animal Rescue of Carroll. She and I are forever grateful!
We
wish you the best in 2009 and years to come. Attached are some pics from Christmas morning.
Take care!

Things
are going well for Jackson
. He is\We are adapting well. He has such a good, kind and gentle attitude to him. I think we have over
come the running away thoughts in his little head…not that I wouldn’t put it past him, if given the opportunity
to but he is definitely getting used to being on the chain, doing his business and coming back to the door. He has even
adapted Kinser’s way of knocking on the door to tell us it’s time to come in, so cute!!
This
weekend my husband threw a surprise birthday party for me. Jackson was the
center of attention and he absolutely loved having 40+ people make over him!!!
Every
year for Christmas we put together a Christmas card of my kids. I wanted to share this years card with you. The
smaller pix is hard to see Jackson but the bigger pix you can definitely see him.
If my son’s hand was covering his side, you could definitely see how he’s slimmed down from when we first got
him. He’s such a good little boy!!! Knock on wood - he hasn’t taken off since sometime in October.
I’m convinced he won’t go far, when he does take off, and he knows his house and has always come back. I hope
you have all have a Merry Christmas. Angie
I hope all is well. Just wanted to let you know that Aiden is doing really well. The
cats are settling in and even the ones that were skittish at first have accepted him as a member of the family. He's been
putting on some weight (we all do sooner or later right?) so I've been watching that lately and feeding him a little less.
He was 92 pounds on his last vet visit. So not too bad.. He usually gets out for at least one walk a day, so maybe it's
just muscle mass :) He loves the forest and the beach. He's also been having "play dates" with my friend's two border
collies. They have a great time whenever they get together. I'm starting to look into obedience classes. I've been
working with Aiden on my own, but I think he could use the expertise of a trainer to iron out some of his lingering puppy
habits. But at this point he could only go from good to better. He is a great dog, and everyone who gets to know him loves
him! He got a really nice compliment from an older gentleman at the forest the other day. He said "That's a very majestic
looking dog!" I couldn't help but feel proud :) Take care. Aiden says hello! :) Marc
| Daffy, a Rat Terrier that was with us a LONG time! |
|
|
Hi. I adopted "Daffy" in May and said I would send a picture. We changed her name to Daphne. Daphne is doing
great. She is getting along with our other animals and loves to go for walks and run around outside in the yard. Attached
is a picture of her and our other dog, Mattie, running around the yard and rolling around in the leaves.
Thank you,
Jenny

Hi! Just wanted to let you know how our new baby is doing
in her new home. She is sure fitting in with her new surroundings. There was a little hissing between her and
her new brothers but now they are getting along like they have known each other forever. Her first night I didn't
want her to feel overwhelmed so I placed her liter box food and blanket in the spare room and closed the door. She had no
acciendts through the night!! She even got to join in the Wednesday moist night she was so thrilled. She is a
talker just like our oldest boy so they seem to be hitting it off so well. I just wanted you to know that she is doing
awesome almost like she was born in this house. She is such a doll we love her to pieces and glad we had the chance
to adopt her. She is camera shy but I finally got a pic of her when laying on my husband. I will try to catch her sometime
and get a better picture but for now this is all we have. I have tried many of times even whe playing with her new brothers
but as soon as I get the camera out she runs, silly girl.
Thank you again! Melissa
| Zoey, a true success story! |

| Zoey went from living in a barn to being #1 at home! |
ZOEY AND ME
I have a loyal little friend
she's sweet as she can be.
As the dawn breaks forth each morning
she comes and wakens me.
She jumps around with happy spins
"Come on" she seems to say.
She is content to be with me,
and eager to start the day.
She doesn't 'speak' words of wisdom,
although she sure is wise.
She conveys her feelings very well
with the expressions in her eyes.
She likes to go for nice long walks
and if we should see a bunny,
she whines and barks and jumps so high
I laugh.......she is so funny !!
Perhaps by now, you may have guessed,
this friend who brings such joy
is a special canine, a gift from God,
a precious 'pup'
named Zoey.
Hope all goes well in each of your lives.
Shari

As for an update, well where do I begin with Jack. He is my "big" bundle of energy.
He is such a smart puppy. I took him to obedience school when he was younger and he passed with flying colors. He knows sit, laydown,
shake, circle around, roll over, stay, drop it, and he walks/runs well on a leash. He is a great dog to teach things
to due to him learning so quickly. He does have a little problem with jumping--we are working on that :). Two
weekends ago I took him with me to my brother's house and we tried to keep him separated from my brother's dog
(his dog just had ACL surgery (ouch)), and while trying to do that I learned that Jack has no problem jumping easily over
a couch from the back, especially when he wants to see another dog. Nobody could believe how much air he got when he
did that. Little fart :). He is a huge fan of dog parks--loves playing with other dogs. Although he makes
sure to keep a good eye of me, he has too keep his mom in site. I just want to say thanks again for helping me find my
"little guy" or should I say "big guy"; he is already over 60 pounds and still growing. Thanks again!
Krista
Scout is doing just great and we are very happy to have him. He is quite well settled in the house. We went for
a set of obedience classes that helped a great deal.
Regards Aditya & Namrata
Chessie is doing great!!! She is really a wonderful dog, and
we have all fallen in love with her! She has really been adapting well, and there have been no problems at all, (no
accidents, no getting into “trouble” when we’re not at home, etc.) All has been going really great.
She is so energetic and playful. She would play with you all day if you are up to it. She loves taking long
walks, and nothing tires her out! I guess we are the ones doing the adapting, as we were used to our very laid back
dog. (He was also a Senior, of course, too.) Anyway, Chessie has been eating up all of the attention, taking as
much as you can give to her!
We have all been having so much fun with her, and we can’t wait for our son, John,
to meet her as well. Anyway, in whatever I can think of to report on, she has been doing great. Her walks are
much better now. We purchased a harness, and that has helped tremendously. She stays off of furniture whenever
you ask her to, she is following simple commands well, eating and sleeping well, and is a very happy dog.
She also
loves to be outside, she doesn’t even mind sitting out in the rain, (which is very strange for us, because Ben hated
getting wet). But, she will come inside when you call her in. She also likes going on car rides a lot, but needs
to learn how to stay in the back seat.
We’ll send a picture soon! If you see Cindy, please thank her for
us too, and let her know that Chessie is doing great! Thanks, Karen
JUST A UPDATE ON LIL, WE HAVE CHANGED HER NAME TO GABBY, SHE KNOWS HER NAME
AND HAS BECOME SUCH A GOOD PET FOR US. WE HAVE SHOWERED HER WITH NUMEROUS TOYS, SCRATCHING
POSTS, LAZERS, AND FLEECE BLANKETS. SHE HAS
NEVER HAD A ACCIDENT, HAS NOT CHEWED ANYTHING UP YET, AND REALLY MISSES US WHEN WE ARE GONE. THE OTHER DAY I CAME
HOME AT LUNCH TO CHECK ON HER, AND WHEN I WAS READY TO GO BACK TO WORK, SHE LOOKED ME IN THE EYE, AND MEOWED REALLY
LOUD, JUST LIKE TO SAY, MOM STAY HOME WITH ME AND PLAY!!! THANKS FOR GIVING US SUCH A WONDERFUL PET!!!! DEB

Staff at Carroll Rescue:
Thought we
should send you some pictures and an update on Ozzie.
Ozzie is getting
along well.
He's a very
sweet dog. He's content with companionship and a comfortable piece of furniture.
He gets along
great with our other schnauzer "Andy".
Thanks to all
at the Carroll rescue for taking care of Ozzie between permanent homes.
We love him
and feel lucky to have him as part of our family
